It’s easy to forget with this amount of cuteness that I am the smallest marine mammal in existence. I only weigh 20 to 30 kilograms however I am perfectly adapted to marine conditions. For a start, I am lucky enough to have a tail and hind legs acting as rudder and fins. Unlike polar bears, it isn’t my blubber that insulates me from the cold, but my fur which is particularly dense. As an example, I have as many hairs on one square centimetre of skin as you have on the whole of your head! Additionally, I secrete an oil and spread it onto my fur when cleaning myself, and it provides perfect waterproof protection.
I feed on molluscs, which I eat while swimming on my back. My belly becomes my picnic table!
I can be found all along the pacific coast. But as well as problems linked to fishing (I get tangled in nets, collide with boats, etc), I especially suffer from pollution. During oil spills, I unfortunately cannot survive the damage done to my precious fur.

Organic cotton
GOTS certified
Since our beginnings in 2007, we have chosen to manufacture our clothes and accessories ethically in India, using GOTS certified organic cotton. The GOTS certification guarantees the respect of environmental and social criteria throughout the textile chain.
Organic cotton is: the absence of chemicals, a water consumption reduced by half, crop rotation and also the preservation of the health of producers.

Notebooks, cards..., we offer a range of stationery products made from recycled paper labelled FSC and from French printers certified by the label "Imprim'vert".
What is FSC certification? FSC, for Forest Stewardship Council, is a label, and more importantly, an independent certification system, guaranteeing that forests are managed in a responsible and sustainable way.

We choose our workshops with care, according to their know-how and the respect of the working conditions.
The workshops we work with are certified GOTS, SA 8000 or Sedex. These standards of social responsibility guarantee the respect of the fundamental rights of workers. Our clothes and accessories are made in India, toys and stationery in Brittany (France).
Our creations, essentially turned towards the endangered wildlife, wish to sensitize the young public and their relatives to the protection of an endangered biodiversity. Our commitments go further as we finance environmental education programs.

Since 2017, Coq en Pâte has been supporting Julien Moreau in his extraordinary sporting exploits, in the service of the environment: the tour of Brittany by paddle and on foot, swimming from Jersey to Saint-Malo, the longest triathlon in the world... His leitmotif? To make school children aware of ecology!

Sabrina Krief
Primatologist
In 2018, Coq en Pâte is engaging with Sabrina, the internationally renowned French primatologist, and her Project for the Conservation of Great Apes (PCGS). Sabrina Krief's research focuses on Sebitoli chimpanzees. Coq en Pâte has committed to finance, for 3 years, the salaries of the anti-poaching teams and the education programs, especially for young children.

DEBORAH PARDO
SCIENTIFIC
In 2016, Coq en Pâte supports scientist-adventurer Deborah Pardo in her expedition to Antarctica and her project "Homeward Bound", which promotes the place of women in the world of science. With a doctorate in population ecology and 7 years of international experience, Deborah has an excellent track record in studying the impact of human actions on biodiversity.

Foundation for Nature and Man
In 2017, Coq en pâte became involved with the Peluchodon operation headed by Wapiti magazine, to protect the great apes. Thanks to the donations of stuffed animals, Coq en pâte gave a check of 5 000 € to the Foundation for Nature and Man, created by Nicolas Hulot, for its Rajako program to save primates and their natural habitats.
