My silhouette is unique! With my long neck and slender legs I am easy to spot! I am an icon of my home, the African savanna. I belong to the giraffe species but my sub-species (called West African giraffe) lives exclusively in the plains of the Sahel. Due to hunting and agriculture encroaching on my living space, there were only 100 of us left in the 1980’s! Fortunately, thanks to a few people working hard for my protection, we are now over 500. Proof that with real effort, nothing is impossible!
