Who am I?
With my scales and unique look, I am sometimes likened to a crocodile. However, I am a mammal like cats, dolphins and humans!
But back to my scales: made of horn, they overlap like roof tiles. When I feel threatened, I can roll into a ball and be protected within this carapace.
I can be found in China, Taiwan and India but I also have an African cousin.
With my tongue, longer than my whole body, I feed on termites and ants, and can eat more than 80 in one minute !
My scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine, which prompts some people to poach me and push my species towards extinction.
