Africa
Trees cracking, branches opening and here I come: I am a gorilla.
When you look at me, you probably think I ressemble a man with a serious expression and you’d be right: after the chimpanzee and the bonobo, my species is one of the closest living things to humans. I look like a colossus with my massive, muscular frame, however I am fairly placid and feed on plants, fruits and insects I find in the African forests.
Whether I live in the mountains or the plains, I face the same problem: my tremendous power cannot protect me from poachers who hunt my species, and sell my meat for small fortunes or my babies as pets. I am still hopeful however that my human cousins will learn to protect me effectively so that I can live peacefully in my beloved forests.
